Lynn Veach Sadler

bean pot a-simmer
stepping in from cold he smiles
lifts pot lid and sniffs

she pulls green onions
shakes dirt from white bulbous roots
smells and then frown-smiles

she checks blueberries
squeezes peach and tomato
counts the kinds of squash

she scoops pumpkin flesh
guides son's hand to carve the face
gets spice out for pie

Rex Stocklin

Spill out your luscious cargo
Unbuckle my belt

I give thanks that there's
Thirty decent meals twixt now
And the first fruitcake

Rex Stocklin is a man of many facets ... a chemical engineer by schooling, but far more entranced by music, writing, the arts in general, comedy, ethnic cuisines and wordplay. Rex, at 53, is also a 14-year stroke survivor, but turns to poetry such that "stroke" doesn't consume his entire life. He does this usually in his underwear & fedora while feasting upon green tea and dark chocolate.
